Does anybody have any experience with one of these? I just got a stainless one as a gift(I've been a real good boy)! I was gonna buy a couple hundred rounds from midway to get started. Any thoughts???? Sounds like a really good excuse to buy a new mold!

Not sure where "Default" came from... This seems like a well made gun, but I don't have a whole lot of experience with Taurus'

38 Super is an heck of a round.
Taurus makes a good pistol. My wife loves her PT1911 in ACP. She has fired a lot of rounds through it. The super should do as well.
Way to go!

i have 2 38 supers, a caspian with a nowlin barrel and a springfield with a kart barrel both prefer bullets sized to 0.357 dia , and med fast powders for accuracy aka wap , wsf, hs6 .
i have 4 bullets moulds that will work in the super & 9mm . saeco #929 #384 # 377 and a rcbs 124 rn gc , the most accurate bullet is the saeco# 929 a 145 gr swcbb out of either pistol .
you will find the super takes a more work than a 45 acp to work up a accurate load with cast bullets !

I got a Taurus 1911 -38 Super in October.
I have run Hornady .355" -124 gr XTP to 1390 fps, Nosler 115gr HP to 1420 fps and Rem 102gr Golden Sabers to 1450 fps with no problem.
I did change the recoil spring to a Wolfe 18lb and a trigger job set at 3.5lb.
The gun shoots good ( 2"- 2.5" at 20 yds) but not great.
I got some .356"- 124gr HP bullets in and I will check the accuracy with .356" jacketed bullets, hopefully the accuracy will improve with .356" bullets.

I have a Taurus PT1911 in .45 acp, love the gun, shoots great, also have a 400 corbon barrel for it, cast for both. Never had a 38 Super but it should do well in the Taurus.

The 38 Super is an awsome round. I used the Super in IPSC for 10 years with the Wilson designed Saeco #930 38-154-SWCBB, this boolit actually drops 158 grains with my alloy. Oddly, the Saeco #928 38-145-RNBB and the #929 38-145-SWCBB drops exactly 145 grain boolits with my alloy!

Slug your barrel for size, all my 38 Supers like boolits sized 357. I use Blue Dot in all my 38 Super loads.

I also use a Lyman 09-130-TCPB for plinking loads in my two Witness 38 Supers. This mould is no longer offered by Lyman.
