Folks I just got me a very nice Marlin ER in .356 Winchester. I'd like to load for it but there is not much load information in current loading manuals. I'd sure appreciate any and all information any of you have. Lookin forwards to taking it hawg huntin the end of February if I can get some loads worked up. And at this point I don't care wether boolits or J-words.

I'm shooting a 356 W Occumpaugh rebore in a 336 Marlin. I suggest you use 358 W loading data at the starting level. Mine shoots the RCBS 200 grain 35 caliber FN very well with varget at Roughly 2000 fps. Pick your powder thoughtfully and go.

In a BB94 I had great groups with a Speer 180Fn J-words and a book load max of AA2015. 45 Gr ran 2775 fps. It would blood shot meat with the best of them. 16 gr 2400 with a Saeco 315 245 gr worked well. I had surprisingly good results with 7383 and the LY 358627 but cannot find the load. I sent a load-book with the gun when I sold it and may have had my notes in that.

Before I sold off the majority of my Marlin's I had a pair of the Marlin 336ER's !

The first one I got was strictly a jacketed bullet rifle . And to be honest I never shot anything except factory Winchester 200 grain loads . Sighted it in , killed a deer the first day in 2006 and never really shot it much after that .

The other 336ER was a cast bullet only rifle !

I shot the Ranch Dog 359-180GC and the Ranch Dog 359-190GC in it ! During the 08/09 hunting season I killed a deer with the rifle shooting the Ranch Dog 359-180GC . I was pushing it with 27 grains of XMP5744 and setting it off with a CCI200 primer . This load was MOA from the bench for me , although it was by no means hot !

been a few years since i loaded for mine and i lost all my old load data in the fire but i never did use cast in it. It really wont do anything with cast that a 35 rem wont do. So if i wanted to hunt with a cast 35 i took one of my 35s. The 356 really comes into its own using jacketed bullets over 200 grain. It will really put the thump on animals under 500 lbs loaded like that. Its also plenty flat shooting to reach out to 200 to 250 yards loaded like that. im going to have to break that rifle out agian next summer. Mine is a big bore that reggie nonoman cut back to 16.5 inch. Its a handy little powerhouse.

Me too. Same firearm & group buy copy of the RCBS bullet.

Also found BL C(2) and Accurate 2520 powders are good ones.

Lyman 3589 is a favorite in my Winchester BB, but doesn't shoot as well in the Marlin. The Marlin does very well with the RCBS 35-200.
