I have a box of 500 I bought a long time ago and am thinking it's time to try them out. I think these are swaged, that's why I'm asking here. They're 230 gr. LRN. They measure .454! Who knows? Anyway, should I give them a try in my .45acp 1911A1 or just recycle the lead? Any suggestions? I do have a Lee bulge buster if they turn out to be too big. Go for it? Load ideas? Thanks.

Run one through a sizing die and see if you get much resistance, recheck the size. If you like the reading size them all. If you melt and cast new boolits you will have to size them anyway!

Thanks guys. I double checked the measurements, it varies depending on where you measure. Then I put some thru a .452 Lee push thru and there was no change. I'll just load 'em shoot 'em and see what happens. Now I got a new problem. While I was at it I'm loading some Lyman 452460s and ran one into a Lee bulge buster to try to solve a feeding problem. It's just a dummy round but it's stuck good in my BB die now. Always something, isn't it?

If these are the same type as the ones I loaded up years ago they are quite soft lead and shouldn`t be driven to hot as they will lead up a barrel. Used to use the 148 wadcutters in my .38 for PPC shooting. I remember one day of shooting my groups went South in a real hurry. After the set I was looking my M 14 over and saw the "crown" of lead at the end of the barrel on the muzzle. I was using 3.75 gr. of 231 and CCi primers. I stopped using these bullets and never had that problem again.Robert

Yep, BB is bulge buster. Which really means it's stuck in my Factory Crimp Die. The BB set is just an adapter to run your loaded round all the way thru a FCD like it was a boolit sizer push thru. Seems like I'm always breaking something or getting something stuck.

I am not sure how you can get that unstuck without heating it up to release the lead.
