i have been thinking about the h. and r. handi w/ a 500 s&w round. my question is, how much b.p. would one be able to load under a 500 or so grain bullet?

I'm not sure how long that 500 case is but I doubt that it is as long as a 50-70 case so maybe in the range of 50gr. A lot depends on the design of the boolit you use. The boolit design will need some big lube grooves for BP as well. Why not just get a BPCR if you want to shoot BP? They can be addicting though.

a short session with a chamber reamer and your gun would be a 50-70. for what it's worth, bubba.

I know of a guy doing the same thing If I remember right he said it would be more like a 50-55

50-70 uses a boolit .510" and the 500 S&W uses a .501" diameter boolits.

They must have to ream it out then if they want to shoot the 50-70 boolit?
