Looking for a load using a 150 grain cast-GC bullet & Unique powder to give me 1,700~1,800 FPS MV...I'd use a 22" Rem 700 .30-06 rifle...can anyone give me some details on their results?

I'd say if you are stuck on that speed, Unique wouldn't be the powder for that application.

Unique about 11 grs. does real well , but it won't generate 1,800 fps.

IMR 4895 at around 28.5 grs.- 30.0 grs. might be the best in that specific speed you're looking for in the 06'.

Here is a group I fired with 27.0 grs. of IMR 4895:

I like SR-4759 in the 30-06 to get to the velocity range you mentioned. About 21.0 grs does very well in every 30-06 I have, both commercial and military.

Other good powders in that speed range are XMP-5744, IMR4198, and Varget.

Concur with Vly, 4759 is an excellent powder for the 150 gr cast bullet at 1800 fps out of the '06, 2400 and 4227 work very well also. A dacron filler will help with consistent ignition and hence, accuracy.

That's superb accuracy...I bet you shoot it quite often.

I confess that when it comes to rifles and boolits ...... I am a neophyte but everything I have done with SR4759 has been a smash hit! Not only cast rifle, but light j-word bullets as well.

I encourage anyone wanting to venture into cast boolits in rifles ...... that if they have not worked with this specialized powder to do so!

Besides the good attributes this powder brings to the equation of boolitology ....... as a specialized powder, SR 4759 is a minor powder in terms of sales. What we don't need is a corporate decision to drop it like was done several years ago.

When we collectively burn a powder that is more popular and perhaps less friendly to "cast" ..... we tend to shoot ourselves in the collective foot ..... yes pun intended. Then we could wake up to a number such as this powder (4759) being dropped.

Now, my teeth have been cut much more in revolver cartridges and boolits. There is a fair following in using SR 4759 in upper medium lead loads in the .44 mag for example and that would also extend it's usefulness. I need to try this use myself.

Powder does not spoil all that fast ...... so stock up!!

Wally :

Yes, I shoot that load a lot. I also like to shoot my Ruger # 1, 308 Win. Here is a load that I fired at 80 yards in preparation for deer season with that rifle. 5 shots, Lyman 311290 with cup point, 18.5 grs. IMR - 4198.........DEADLY ! !

Here is the results, shot this doe in the temple and exited out the side of her head. I'd post the exit photos but as you can imagine, it was very graphic :
