MiHec brass four cavity solid 30 Sil

This is a sign-up / interest thread for an existing design........ specifically a mid-heavy cast boolit for the 30 caliber rifles. This boolit is a gas check design that casts out slightly above 0.311". Weight is 180 gr. I use this in semi-auto 308s with very good accuracy. Designs similar to this in the 25, 7mm and 8mm calibers will follow if this goes over well. This was produced by Lee as a GB and BRP had it on his mold listing as well. Quite a few people out there already have it.
Here is something to look at:

I'd be interested as well. The Lee Group Buy version I Honcho'd did not do service to this design. BRP's version was top notch; but I forgot to order one of those before Bruce had to close the shop.

One thought on this if you don't mind Bob. What would be the chance of producing different versions of this design such as a .314" and .316" version?

I am a .30 cal junkie, a Mihec fan x8 and you have caught my eye sir! Any leading issues with this design? How fast do you push them?

This design lends itself particularly well to commercial throats.

    Hope this helps,

What dimentions on the nose and how much? If the dimentions are right, I will be interested in this and the 7mm.

Some Dem. would be nice, From the nose, the 3rd marked section, does that angle out from the nose Dia. [.300] to driving band dia. [.311] like a lot of SAECO designs do, [073 & 311] as examples ??

None of the Sil designs have parallel noses. They fit any of the bolt or semi-auto rifles i've tried them in. They also shoot very well at high velocity. This is just the same boolit as was available from Lee or BRP. Already quite proven, but no longer available.

No, two different tapers from ogive to drive band.............
That makes the boolit try to center itself from cartridge to full engravement in the barrel. A lot of things can happen with the standard two diameter boolit when you go past 1800 fps that you won't like. Note the current state of accuracy on this forum versus that velocity.

    ???
put me down for a mold, I'm all about accuracy, both at < 1200 from my Contenders, and +- 1800, from my M-40 clones, only have 220 yds. to play at.

I'll take one also. Can never have too many molds I guess. Would a .243 be offered in the future?????

BRP did two 6mm molds, one a heavy at about 100 gr. and one for the 6x45 at about 76 gr. The 76 gr. looks like a Sil boolit and has shot very well in the AR rifles since it was designed expressly for them.

Length of the bearing surface (from bottom of check to top of front band)?

I am curious as to how well this will fit the shorter neck 30's, in my case a 300 Savage. I have a Model 81 and I'm still looking for a design that fits.

How many more do we need? How much will they be (roughly)? I don't have a MiHec mould yet, this will help rectify that problem.
