Ruger Single Six

I've been working on a load for a Ruger Single Six in .32 H&R Mag.
The boolit is a .312-100-2R by Lee, tumble lubed with Lar's Xlox.
Unique powder and standard small pistol primers.
Loads were developed in .32 H&R mag cases.
All shots were fired from a steady rest on a good day.

The black square is a one inch bullet hole paster.




Three grains of Unique produces 'minute of 'coon head' groups.

Glad to see someone else using target pasters as aiming points.

Any isea of the velocity? My SSM seems to like the faster loads better, but that may be because I haven't tried the right boolit yet.

Not a clue on the velocity. All I'm concerned about is finding the sweet spot and enjoying the results of my efforts. I took the battery out of my chrony about 8 years ago and haven't looked at it since.

I need to get a .32 H&R magnum reloading effort rolling..so this topic is of interest to me.

Just a month or so back I got myself a S&W Model 16 in this caliber..and it's a sweetie!!

Jim,
Turn that paster up so that there are points top and bottom, left and right, aim at the bottom "point", it will give you a more precise aiming point and tighten your groups more.

For hunting loads, AA#7 does great for accuracy and I like Win 231 for lesser loads, try a range of loads to find the sweet spot for your handgun.

2400 also works well for me in this caliber.

Wow that seems extremely simple lol. I have battled inconsistancy and point of aim problems with my single six .32 for over a year. My dad has the same mold but it is beagled for his ttaurus. Maybe I should try it again sized to .312. Have you found a difference between lee LOX and the stuff you are using? My 85 gr. mold shoots like three inches low and three to the right and no matter what I have found huge inconsistancies.

AA 7 - How much with 100 grain lead boolits in my Rugers?

I have several .32 H&R revolvers. My most used bullet is the Group Buy 100 gr Keith. In large frame guns (the Single Six IS a strong gun) you can use (in Magnum cases, 10.0 grs of H110) for a "heavy" load.

I mostly shoot targets with mine and use hollow base wadcutters ahead of 1.8-2.0 grs of Bullseye in .32 S&W Long cases for a nice target load. This also works well for edible small game (bunnies, grouse, and squirrels). However, my most used load is the 100 gr Keith behind 2.8 grs of Win 231 in .32 S&W Long cases.

BTW, not disparaging the groups, they were great, just a suggestion that I've found tighten my groups just a bit.

Ive shot thousands of rounds threw my 32 single-six. Use the rcbs 98 swc,,3.5-231 powder to plink with. The most accurate load is this same boolit,on top of a full case of h-4227.Lots of blast and roar,but this load will shoot very small groups.

Accurate #1 manual
5.4-6 gr. AA#7 @1.31 " oal, CCI 500, Lyman 313631.
Their 10" velocities 1126-1279.
I used 6.5" Ruger Single Six, Starline cases, CCI 500s, 5.4 gr AA#7and the old Bull-X 100 gr SWC for an average of 1045 fps. Real accurate.
Most any load seems to flatten primers, nature of the cartridge, so I understand.

try some of your lighter loads in s&w long brass. When i get down below about 2.5 grains of bullseye i have better luck with accuracy in the smaller case. My fun load is a rcbs full wadcutter and 1.5 grains of bullseye in a s&w long case.

I like 32 magnum, it's pretty good in a handgun.

I've tried 1.9 grains of Bullseye with the RCBS 98 grain swc bullet, not bad.

Reduced to 1.4 grains, it's extremely accurate for 50 meters. TC Contender load.
