The funny thing of it all is that they grandfather in 45-70 and 444Marlin ,otherwise they would not of made it for how long they have for the OAL. I know I miss one other one I forgot what one that is.

Funny that the .44 special makes the "list", but falls short on the criteria below. Even the mighty .44 mag has a trim length of 1.275" which is below the standards.

Thank you Wayne.I know for how they write alot of things, you not sure what the law is. I have call my county game warden on a few things that I was not sure about. He come to tag my otters that I trap. He know me. He is easy to talk with also. But once in the field I know I am fair game for him.

So this is what the DNR sent me, Scott,
Definitions are not in Iowa code; however if you are making your own ammunition, I can get you to an officer that would be able to assist you in figuring out what is legal to use. For example, an expanding type bullet is a hollow point that is designed to expand. I do have a call into the officer. to me it sounds like they are leaving it up to the officers, makes no sense.

Sac it is good to hear that your DNR officer said the same, so we know they are all on the same page of what the laws are on it.The office is another story for how it looks to me at times.

When hunting hangun season I could not get a satifactory or consitiant answer from the DNR on cast. My solition was to hollow point my cast boolits as an added level of security, I heard the words "Hollow point" from whomever I spoke to.
