    Food Pantry items

This may be the wrong place for a post of this nature, so feel free to move it if ya'll want. Anyway- I'll be heading to SE Texas to help a friend who got flooded out. I'll be bringing along a whole mess of food for food banks down there, and would like to open an invite to transport stuff. I'm located in New Braunfels, and my travel route will take me along IH-10. If there are people local to me, or folks along the way, who would like to get food/other donated items into the hands of folks down there, I'd be happy to transport.

I know there are many other places to drop things off at, and that's great. I just thought I'd offer up some truck bed space for anybody who would want it. I'll be traveling the weekend of the 16th.

Thank you . Remember food should be non perishable and easy preparation items.
During disasters here we try to give things that can be fixed on campus stove or grills.
Not knowing the area there all i can advise is what our pantry does.

I am bringing non-perishable items, and items that a person would actually WANT to eat. I referenced a the "most needed items" list form a couple different food banks down in that area to help with what to get. I remember getting food from the food bank when I was a kid. I also remember a kind lady that always gave me a candy bar. When you don't have money for food, goodies usually fall to the bottom of the list- if they even make it at all. So, I plan to include such items knowing that some kid is gonna find joy in a simple thing like a candy bar.

Most of our time will be spent in Beaumont. We're also bringing a case of bug spray, and I'll add the bleach to the list also. Thanks for mentioning it...I didn't even think about it.

I'd recommend some of those crystal light type drink mixes. Koolaid is great but too much sugar and hypes my kid up, the sugar free versions were great for giving him a little 'juice' with dinners while we were stuck at home.
My feedback page if you feel inclined to add:

There's many different types of tools in our Father's shed, and each one is just as important as the other.
