    Trigger 4 AR15

I have a Ar that I bought years ago and rarely use
So I decided to take it out for a walk
it is very accurate however it really shows that the weak link
other than me is the trigger. I am new to semi auto shooting.
Does anybody have any recommendations for a good trigger
    replacement?
I was looking at them and they are mind boggling the different
    triggers available.

I like the Timney 2-2 Targa two stage trigger. I have it on a couple of target and varmint AR's. 2 pounds on each stage, very crisp.

Giessle SSA-E. Kind of expensive, but I like them.

In my NRA match AR match rifles I have Jewels. ( Pre gissele) I am happy with them and they hold up well. Mine are 2 stage set to 4 5/8 lbs ( service rifle has to hold 4 1/2 lbs)they are a little tricky to install but are fully adjustable also.

jobob sells a grip screw that is tapped and treaded and has another screw in the middle of it. You can use it to take some of the travel out of the trigger with it, then you red lock tight it in place. I put one on one of mine, and it seems to work pretty well. Just another option thats quite a bit cheaper.

PSA is supposed to have a decent trigger, the EPT, also if you want something on the cheaper side.

Rock River National Match and Varmint are both very good 2-stage triggers - my favorites.

I recently installed a PSA 2-stage nickel boron in a new Anderson lower. It feels really good, but has not yet been shot.

Two stage triggers reduce the take-up, also allowing quicker follow up shots.

Timney triggers have a good reputation, but I've never used them.

Drop-in trigger packs are nice for convenience, but installing hammer and trigger separately aren't hard either. A decent drop-in trigger pack is the one made by Velocity.

im a JARD adjustable fan, but there are many good triggers on the market. pick a price point, do some research and take a stab at one.

One advantage to a good 2 stage trigger, is it allows you to easier pre load the trigger or stage it. My jewels are set to just over 4 1/2 lbs and 3 lbs lbs is in the first stage. Especially in the offhand stage I can get on target hold to the start of second stage and alighn sights finely then break the shot with an added 1 1/2lbs force. On a crisp clean trigger with properly set "break point" these weights seem much lighter than they actually are. A travel in the second stage of only .008-.010 makes a very crisp release.

On my AR match rifles I have the triggers set to 2 1/2 lbs over all with 1 1/2 lbs in the first stage and the .010 release travel in the second. A very easy to control and shoot trigger.

I don't believe one trigger 2 stage or single stage is acyually more accurate than the other, its more a preference and what your used to.

I am not an Ar expert or really a fan but I bought a Bushmaster optics ready carbine a few years back when you could buy one in CT. and the trigger sucked bad I bought the CMC Tactical trigger group part# 91501 it was a good price and made my gun a shooter. I highly recommend it as I have over 5000 rounds and no problems

I'll second the PSA EPT trigger. If you aren't in a hurry, they run them on sale occasionally for $30. They show as out of stock now.

I have one and its a vast improvement over most factory triggers. is it as good as a 200 dollar trigger? Nope but I just cant justify putting a 200 dollar Giessele in a 500 dollar gun. The psa for 30 bucks is every bit as good as my rock river arms trigger.

For a trigger that is a decent step up from mil-spec but not super expensive, ALG makes some solid triggers. I believe they are a sister company to Giessele, but can't recall offhand for sure.

Never tried the PSA trigger. Maybe I'll have to give it a go.
