    Lee/Midway TL309-230-5R

It looks like there is another option for those 300 Blackout/Whisper subsonic loads but I'm sure most of us can imagine many more uses. I was hoping for a standard lube groove and I'm not sure if it is a plane base or gas check boolit.

wow this is great!!! alot of people have been waiting for a bullet mold like this, extra heavy 30. cals. i would kinda hope for .311 so i could size it down a little more but they generally drop .310 - .311 to bad its not gaschecked

I took the Lee #: 90801 Provided by MidWay in their sales description and went to Lee's Web site hoping to see a photo of the bullet , that number shows to be a mold blank ? ?

I would bet that number shows up because it is considered a special order mold, and isn't going to be a catalog item for Lee. Kinda like the special order molds Midsouth has, the bator and others.

Looks like they are trying to make it a boattail. Looks like it will stick down in the case a good ways. On the plus side, with the base the way it is, it could probably be opened up just a little and made into a gas check shank, then lubed normally.

That's just how it looks from first impression though, the pot is warming and measurements will be coming as soon as I can get some decent boolits from it. Mold is cleaned and warming up now.

OK, here is a sample pic. Not a very good one, but it should give you an idea. I was having trouble with fill out at first, so I went to the ladle. AS usual with these long boolits, I just had some trouble with the bottom pour, but things went much better with the ladle. Fillout was good, boolits wanted to stick a little at first, but after a little while they started to fall with just a tap on the hinge.

Took a sample of 10 boolits, all weighed between 232 grains and 232.7 grains. This is with ACWW with a little tin, what I had in the pot. Bands measured .3096-.3102, noses measured .3009 to .3017, seemed to be a bit less concentric than the bands. The long tapered boat tail looks a bit funky, but checks do fit snug, and crimped on tight when ran through a .311 die. I would have tried .310, but I don't have one.

Any way, that's my first experience with this mold. I don't have a 300 whisper yet, trying to get one built next year in a bolt gun. I will be trying them as a plain base in my 06 though. Have been shooting a 308403 copy, but will be trying more this summer. HTH, Billy

+3 on big thanks for getting some visuals going.

That ought to be perfect without the GC and just tumble-lubed for the subsonic Whisper concept.

Never heard of good results with a boat tailed cast boolit, will be fun playing with it though.

Mine should be here Monday, I'll get some cast up, then load up different amounts of H4895 then fire for function and chronograph. H4895 seems to work great with my 245C's from Accurate Molds.

    Great looking bullet casting.

So are these made for tumble lube or using my lyman 450

Also, did you 'leement' (prep the mold)?

    thanks
