Lots of threads on this topic.
It means they want $400 a year for them to let you post pics on forums now.

They just took down some pictures that I recently posted. What is another good picture hosting site?

Photobucket shot themselves in the foot with this one. Social media sites are slamming them and people are emptying their accounts. I downloaded everything I really needed to my hard drive and am on the hunt for a decent photo site also.

The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

I don't really use the e-mail that I signed up for photobucket with, so I had to go look. I had the notice too. Looks like it's time to migrate any content off of there.

I think they were purchased by a Canadian group who has also purchased a few forums. Thinking they will get rich. More like they will be BROKE.

The problem is the price. There are a ton of companies out there that will sell you a domain and unlimited bandwidth on a shared server for about 1/8 of what Photobucket wants for just pictures.

Posting images is part and parcel of the interaction of this site.It looks like I will move on to another Photo organiser.Initialy I thought it may be a Scam but your replies prove the reality.

What's the deal with photobucket? Who needs it anyway? I post pictures on this site and several others all the time directly and never use any of those lame website photo-hosting places. You don't need them. Keep your photos local (2G HD's are $60 or less!) and do not put them on a hosting site or "the cloud"!!!!! More secure that way anyway.

Storing everything on local drives risks total loss through theft, fire, flood or other act of God. Have two or more copies of anything important and at least one copy stored off site.

Used photobucket for a long time but it is a total fail now . Managed to retrieved about half the photos I had there with much trouble and moved to Imjur . Imjur is easy to use , free with unlimited storage . Photobucket is unusable .

Do you carry fire insurance? Keep a firearm loaded around the house? Why?

I'm guessing you don't have anything important on your computers. Backups on and offsite are mandatory for important items. For most people this means pictures and documents. If you don't back them up in this manner be prepared to lose them. Not saying people have to back up their files. Just don't be surprised if you eventually lose them.

When this issue came up I switched to Imgur and like it. No advertising, no pop-ups, no drama. I'll slowly but surely upload my photos to Imgur and then delete them all from PB. Their loss for getting FAR too greedy and it'll be interesting to see how long they survive after pulling this ...

I've got tons of REAL photographs from decades ago and videos and a bunch of other stuff that you really can't replace or store off-site without risk. I keep at least two copies of electronic photos here, on separate computers and drives, and as of late, upload to either my website or Google. I'll assume Google won't be there forever, but I'll bet my real photos might outlast digital ones. True cloud storage is really risky. You'd better keep atleast one yourself!

I switched to Imgur as well. Much faster than Photobucket. It is very easy to use.
