New Camera; Pictures of 1911 Sear Mated to Hammer

    Hello,

I thought you may enjoy this. It's my daily carry build; when fitting sear and hammer, I like to use macro photography in addition to standard optical magnification.

These are tests of the new shop camera:

    Regards,

    Josh

That last pic is so great. I bet the back of that sear looks nicely polished to the eye, but at that magnification it's like tool mark city. Good thing I don't have a camera that nice...my OCD would have me ripping apart guns to re-polish parts for months!

Do you have a small ring Mauser bolt for .223 Rem or 300 Blk you can take a pic of and post it?

    Wonderful pics!

    I'm sorry; I do not.

You are right. I purposely avoided pictures of the sear face; I polish with 7,000 grit but I'm sure there would still be visible marks.

    Josh

    Hello,

    I took this for you:

It's not a perfect picture; I should ink it and try again. It's not reflecting the actual sear engagement.

    Regards,
    Josh

Thanks Josh. Seeing the parts in this kind of detail is a reminder of the limitations of the eye alone. I have a magnifying glass hanging near near my "soft" vice and I think it needs more use during polishing and stoning operations going forward.
