    Unhappy Ithaca 87 trigger woes

Recently picked up an Ithaca M87 Featherlite Deerslayer 12 ga. I like the gun, but the trigger pull is somewhere between Hulk Hogan's bench press max and the torque on a rope from a falling piano. Anyone got any info on how to lighten this trigger? Maybe some new springs, retro parts....anything?

    Lead melter,
My experience is limited to working on only two shotguns of that model, one model 37 and one model 87. The trigger pull on both was pretty nice, the design gives a lot of leverage on the sear arrangement.
Have you taken the trigger group out of the gun and inspected it? If it is that hard, I would tend to think that either some foreign debris or dirt got into the trigger assembly or there is a burr or some manufacturing defect. jmsj

I have not removed the trigger group as I have no manual of instructions or exploded drawings. A call to the manufacturer resulted in a barrel removal page, but not much else. Since I know better than to start removing screws without a guide, perhaps you could lend a hand in that matter.
