    Press & Dies

I have a two part question, First is the Hornady Classic Reloader press strong enough to use for swaging .224, 9mm and .45cal bullets or should I look at something else? Second - Not so much a question but rather recommendations for purchasing affordable de-rimming .22LR and swaging dies for all three calibers. I'm wanting to get into this and don't want to spend a fortune and would like to use some of my existing equipment if possible. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I would think your Hornady Classic reloader press should be good enough, I'm using an older pacific press by Hornady.

    Swaging

    Retired Navy:

The Hornady press should be ok.

CH makes relatively inexpensive dies for pistol bullets. Site below.

The brothers Corbin, two differnt companies, have much info on swaging. I would suggest reading as much as you can before buying anything. Look at Dave Corbin's site and find if any bullet makers (B Makers) listed are in your area. Try to get with one of them for some first hand experience and guidance if possible.

Larry Blackmon makes top-of-the line steel dies considerably less than carbide dies.

If you, or one of your buddies, happens to be a good machinist, you can make much of the stuff you need. Check out making dies and press on this site.

    Swage On!
