    S&B brass for 8mm

I used to shoot S&B ammo in my 8mm milsurps but got pretty discouraged on using it for reloads. Shallow extractor grooves, thick case necks and seemed to work harden pretty fast.

Recently found myself low on Rem or Win brass for some cast loads so I reached back on some old S&B brass (never get rid of brass) and found it provided better than expected accuracy. Akin to what 45.2.1 been's describing for improving accuracy in the Swede by using thicker case necks, this S&B brass is giving me a pretty close neck clearance with .325 boolits. This lot I just shot is running about .015" neck wall thickness.

So if any of you 8mm shooters have access to S&B brass you might check it for thick neck walls and try it for cast loads.

One can always anneal those necks before they start splitting from being work hardened.

If you have brass that does not fit a standard 30-06 shell holder try one for a 30-30. They are slightly larger and work fine for shells that do not have enough extractor groove.
