The Great Belding and Mull Powder Measure

Those fortunate enough to own one of these measures know what an awesome accurate old beast it is.

I have a very old one I purchased from a member here on CB. Problem has always been the mount.

SHEESH... what a horrible design. ...

The shape and single thumbscrew clamp cant possibly do anything but twist the way you don't want it to. So I designed a base plate for it, with a pocket recess milled out to hold it where it's now solid in my ROCKDock docking mount.

Also designed a dual plate for 2 powder measures and had them both at the Reno Gunshow. Solid mounts improve our charge to charge consistency for sure.

Hey, I recognize those two other measures, I have them too. I like your mount, Pat. When our son and daughter-in law move out I will finally be setting up a real reloading/gun room and will need one or two. Know anyone looking to hire an Areospace Engineer?? (MS-ODU)

Pat

Nice way to take care of the B&M wobble as it is known by anyone who ever used this measure.

It is interesting that there was another attempt at this measure by Vega Tool. They called it the Schutzen measure and it sold for about $230 in the mid to late 80's. As neear as I can tell from pictures only, they used a threaded section like other measures to mount in 7/x14 stand or press head. I have been trying to find one of those to add to the B&M collection, but not at the original price.

Did those two ever move away from Archie on the show. I also have all 3 thowers shown. I either mount them on one of my 1 inch shelves in my loading bench or my 1 inch steel plate that I installed a RCBS mount on.

Would like to have something more useable to mount throwers on. Pat's mount looks good did he say they were for sale.

Very nice! Looks like you could use a little more room underneath for the larger tube, maybe it's the photo angle?

Thanks for the compliments fellas. You can mount these in all kinds of ways, and make plenty of room, plus the base plate for the powder measures hang over about 1 1/4" (plenty), but you can pull the plate out more if you would need to, and still lock it down solid.

Yes you can get one Stephen.

The B&M was my first powder measure back in 58. Some time in the late 60's I gave it to my BIL to help get him started reloading. It is a great measure. Great mounting solution !!
