    Heel type mold in .38

Want to get me a conversion cylinder for a .36 cal. Remington Navy revolver but understand you have to use hollow base bullets in order to get any accuracy. Is any company out there currantly making a heel base bullet in .38? I've been searching the net and coming up empty. Will stick to .44 if I can't find a bullet that will actually work right.

Don't know about the Remington, but I have a conversion kit for a Colt '51, 36 caliber that fires 38 S&W. Were the Remingtons that different?

Guesser, the .36 conversions, Colt and Remington are both chambered for .38 Smith and Wesson, but the .36 bore is .375, I think, and the .38 S&W is .357 give or take a little so they are undersize. The original conversions used a heel type bullet like the .41 Colt. Some folks use hollow base slugs in them and do fine, I just wanted to know if there was source for a heel type slug.

Jim at CBE does a .380 heel bullet with the heel at .357 to suit .38 cases. He has just released the update version (this one) as the original had a .363 heel.

I've heard that some people are converting to 41 Long Colt and thus avoiding the bullet diameter problem.

    You might find this interesting:

    Vulture47,

I would give Tom at Accuraate molds a try. I know he makes heeled boolit molds for the .32 Long Colt; I was sent some to try and they look very good.
