500S&W Target

How about target pictures with 500S&Ws?
I see many images of ultra groups with 44, 45, or 475 but hardly see them with 500s. Anyone here shoot them for accuracy?

My suggestion is to measure center to center of the farthest holes.
I am out of sorts this morning, went to feed the chickens and was bending down to look for eggs. I was slammed in the face by a rooster, about knocked me down. I have a puncture in my cheek and a gouge in my upper lip, then a scratch on my forehead. Blood was pouring and If I would have seen what chicken did it he would have a wrung neck.
Chicken shooting time coming up!

Thanks 44man!
Those are from 50yds, rest. The gun is S&W500,PC6.5", and the load = LBT500gr + SR4759X29gr. I'm hoping to get 1"@100yds but I guess I have to work really hard.

That's what I like to see, really nice groups guys.
I like that Encore but that little lever under the trigger guard will make me another knuckle! I have a very large knuckle from shooting heavy bows and from getting banged by trigger guards. It has Alzheimer's, yep, forgets to get out of the way. The reason I can't shoot a Bisley either.

Hey, I see no reason I could not make a new trigger guard for an Encore with the lever up front and a rounded out filler behind the guard. I might have to look into one someday.
I had to do it with my MOA because the two factory loops tore me up.

Elmer Keith was a real cowboy. He said a man without blood on him everyday hasn't done enough work.

Some dang fine groups here boys! Hey 44 man, have you had any experience with the .500 Wyoming Express? Just curious, I'd love to have one. That belted case is too cool! (And the FA can ride in a holster, needs no sling!) lol Dennis

No. But will soon have some with a custom .500 Linebaugh when my friend gets his. (very holster friendly.)
There are a few I would not want like the belted case or the .50 AE.
I don't think there is any reason for a belted case. More problems then not. Rimless brass is also more problems.
All those funny ones are just to fit guns that are too small.
Personally, I would get the Freedom .475 if you want a holster gun. Even a BFR .475 is not that large and can take more weights of boolits. My BFR .475 frame is only 3/16" longer then a SBH and the 7-1/2" barrel is 3.2#, the SBH 7-1/2" is 3#. My gosh, are you going to argue about .2#????? My 10" SBH is HEAVIER then the BFR .475 at 3.4#.
Now get this---The Freedom .500 WE is 3.19#! A BFR .50 AE is only 3.5#.
Funny how some think one gun is easier to pack then another because a few ounces is so important.
I always say you need to take all the candy bars out of your pocket to make space for the gun!

A .500 BFR at 50 yards with Montana Bullet Works 425 gr. LFN GC over 19 gr. of Blue Dot for just over 1200 fps. That's two cylinders full and the hole just over the Ultradot is a staple hole. I was flinching just right that day. I'd like to bust a whitetail with this one in a couple of weeks.

I've got a buildup of scar tissue near the second knuckle of my middle finger from shooting big bores over the years (FA83 .454, Encore 500, 460, 50 Alaskan and 45/70). What I do now is buy those little rubber finger thingies (technical term) that cashiers use to count money and cut the tip off. This lets me slide it over my middle finger for added protection.

GOOD IDEA! I wrapped my finger with foam and tape too many times with poor grips. I am not a fancy grip person or purist and love Pachmeyer grips to save my finger. Pretty can HURT!

Okay,
I have to ask. What primer are you guys using? I think everyone knows 500S&W calls for Large Rifle but are you using Standard or Magnum? I use Federal #215but haven't done enough test. I compared with Fed. #210M once. Didn't see any difference in velocity...
