Exclamation Muzzle Loading Frolic, 5/30/09, Stone Ridge, N.Y.

My gun club, Marbletown Sportsmen (105 Scarawan Rd., Stone Ridge, Ulster County, N.Y.*) will host a Muzzle Loading Frolic on May 30. Registration begins at 9:30AM, with shooting at a variety of targets (15 in all) at 25, 50 and 100 yards to begin at 10AM. This is an off-hand, load from a bag event for all muzzleloaders. Inlines are welcome, but must use lead projectiles. The fee is $10.00 and food will be available for purchase away from the firing line. The person to contact for more information is Rich Rockwell: 1-845-687-8750 or mzldr@aol.com Hope to see some of you there!

The frolic was sparsely attended, but to my complete surprise, I managed to win a 3rd place award. My first shot (offhand) at a vertical piece of string @ 25 yds. unbeknownst to me, would be the tie breaker. I cut it neatly in two, but missed some other easy shots. Later, when not shooting for record, I managed to hit two (charcoal briquet on a string & small clay bird) that I previously missed offhand @ 25 yds. My club is planning another event, a woods walk, in late September or early October.

    Congrats!

David, Thanks! Btw, my son used to live in Buffalo, but moved to Rochester last year so I'm familiar with Thruway exits 45 -> 50. I'll try to get some targets to you for the pistol (revolver) match before the end of June.
