I ended up trading for a couple of s&w revolvers today. Not sure why, but I did.
A 16-4 s&w 32 magnum and a 25-5 45 Colt.
Both have been on my wish list and decided tk make it happen.

So where is the drool button?

Really nice! So nice that I have to wonder what you gave in trade.

That is a very good score! Both very desirable revolvers. Congratulations!
Due to the price of primers, warning shots will no longer be given!
Thank you all. I am pleased with the new revolvers. Both are used and in good / v. good condition. Both came with original boxes and paperwork but no tools. The 25 grips have been changed out. It has a target hammer and trigger and the grips are more worn than the revolver shows. I do have a pair of target grips to put on it. I do prefer the standard grips to shoot though. These will not be safe queens, but shot on a fairly regular basis. I do like the S&W revolvers and though these were higher than similar current manufactured new revolvers, they are a much higher quality product.
You have a couple of nice ones. The 25-5's are the change between good and wide throats. I don't know if there is a serial number record, but the later hald have 0.452 and the earlier 0.457+. I hope yours have the later. How long of a bbl on the 16-4?

The 25 is an N serial number and is supposed to have the correct 0.452 throats. I forgot my pin gauges this morning to check.
The 16-4 has a 6" barrel. I am not usually a fan of thr full underlug but on this one, it isn't muzzle heavy like the 6" 686 i once had. K frame vs L frame.
A buddy of mine has a 25-5; same as yours but he has the larger grips. It’s quite accurate with most any load. He carries it for backup on hog hunts.
I have never owned a 45 colt. i have brass and a couple of bullet molds for the just in case. I think I have the MP wadcutter mold, and I hope the MP 454-640 HP mold with pins. Going to be looking for dies soon, I think. I may have some in the drawer.
Any suggestions on dies. Thinking the older RCBS steel dies instead of carbide.
Very nice!! Congrats! Gotta love those wheelguns.
I have recently acquired a 625-7 Mountain gun. I had picked up a set of carbide Lyman 45 Colt dies so I could load for a friend. I had trouble with them. Most of my other dies are Redding, so I got some for the 45 Colt. So far the Redding dies are working much better for me than the Lyman dies did.
Remember: Ammo will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no ammo.
I really like carbide dies.
You might consider a chamber cast to see what you've got first, then order dies.
I put a piece of masking tape over the front of the cylinder. Then set it up on the bench vise to support the bottom of the cylinder. Then melt and pour the cerrosafe. Have a wooden dowel handy to tap it out.
The 45acp dieswould work if you've got them.
Great looking pair of revolvers btw.
Great find.

When I got my 16-4 I was busy and let it languish for a bit. When I did get it in use…oh my! It was wonderful!
Hope you pay attention to yours. Those are super shooters.

“Not sure why”? Because they’ve been on your “wish list” of course! The 25-5 has always been a hard one to find, and by now, the 16-4 has reached near-unicorn status. If the pictures you sent are any indication of condition, I would rate them at least NRA Excellent. It appears to me you got a couple of real treasures, even they hadn’t been on your wish list. Enjoy them both and be sure to send a range report and more pictures. We LOOOVE pictures here!
