Loaded the last of my 45s. I'm set with 45ACP for a little while.
Got the day off tomorrow and my new favorite gun is the S&W M&P2 40 (because of the new trigger job) so prepped to cast a mountain of 40 cal boolits (HTC402-188-WFN).

Rotometals had to send me some pure lead as I had none, Thanks! I cast a few pure lead bullets and slugged the bore of my "new" revolver. The groove was .430" so I lapped the .429" cylinder throats to .431" with a brass lap and diamond paste. The finish was much smoother than a reamer which was what I did last time, the reamer was lost in a fire so I got to make the decision again. More care was required so as to not overshoot but I am very happy with the Pin Gauge fit in all the holes. Cost was $160 for 3/32-1/2" Laps and Diamond, about the same as a reamer but able to do more things like adjusting dies.
Thanks to DougGuy for mentioning Acro Laps. I would have had him do the job but shipping scares me with a cylinder that is out of production. He was right about holes not being truly round, I could feel it turning the new lap by hand.

Good for you, Mal. Lapping take a bit more skill, but it's much more precise. And if the next time you need a smaller or bigger hole, you already have the tooling.

Very interesting. Lapping the cylinders out. I’m going to look into that. Thanks
Tested some more PC boolits. Arsenal mold 40-165-WFN OD Green. The one with the 4 or 5 little wrinkles for lube. I have not been really impressed with these with lube but likening the 4 light loads I tried with AA #5. 7.0 7.4 7.8 8.2. 10mill. 5.25” Springfield xdm. 826 to 960 fps. Going to go on up to see how they behave.
I uncovered my bench and the Lyman measure tube popped off and spilled 4350 everywhere.
After cleanup it was loading 20 rnds of Partitions for the 25-06.

I slugged the bore of my 350 Legend, .356", rifling looks good. Will try shooting without the muzzle brake. There was crud built up in the passages that may have opened up the groups.

I am building target frames out of PVC pipe and connections. Cheap and very easy to do. james
I loaded 100 rounds of 6.8 Remington and looked in vain for a 3/8" dovetail blank with a d&t hole in it- I know it's somewhere in there.
I burned the old shot up pallet and placed a new one at the 40 yard berm.

Let me guess: shooting for accuracy?
I’m into the action shooting sports, where time highly affects scoring. Shooting as fast as possible means acceptable hits can be a foot or more apart, so the target frames get shot through regularly. Wood frames can stand the abuse, at least for a few sessions. I’m thinking pvc might shatter and fail with just one errant shot?
ETA: And I’m away from home vacationing, so no action in my reloading room.
Not in the loading room but out in the garage taking advantage of the cooler Fall air. Since our recent move my lead stash has been sitting in the floor on one side of the garage. A few days ago I started moving the ingots from milk crates to ammo cans and stamping permanent letters on the older ones that were not stamped. I been doing a milk crate in the morning and another in the afternoon. I'm about half through and throughly tired of moving lead!
Resized the 1200 or so 40 cal boolits...

I'm re-tired, too. I was tired yesterday, and I'm tired again today.

I guess the German in me made me load 8x57mm yesterday and start sizing 9mm today. The Lee 175gr over 9grs of Unique is more accurate than I am with those darned barleycorn sights....
My better half emptied her Shield 9 erasing a serpent off the driveway- so I need to load some 115gr Gold Dots for carry and some 38-105swc for practice.

Probably sacrilege on this forum, but 40 rounds of Lazzeroni 721 Firebird with 140 grain Berger Moly coated hunting VLD bullets. They run over 3,400 fps. Doesn't take long to go through a pound of powder at 99.0 grains per cartridge.
