    Mauser 98 scope mounting

When installing a Redfield one piece scope mount is it necessary to profile the rear of the action to remove the hump at the clip slot? Are there one piece mounts that don't require profiling?

There are mounts made for the standard Military action.
There is another made for the civilian action that they call the commercial action like the FN that does not have the stripper humps on the receiver.
The screw spacing is not the
    same on both mounts.

Danth, I think one of these is what you're talking about. I was never a fan of removing the clip guide so I've used these Redfield one piece or hand fitted Weaver #45&46 (for a two piece setup).
Those are nice Mauser sporters, bdicki. Kind of Beauty and Beast! That Redfield base with the folding ghost ring sight is classic.

FWIW, a review on the scope base, from the site I posted:

    "
    Clears receiver charging hump
Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I bought this base because of positive reviews.
The base cleared the receiver, charging hump on my 1943 Turkish Mauser.
A perfect fit where my 20 minute base was bedded.

    A great product."

Texas by God, that is the critter sure enough. I checked out the one @ Midway and although it appears to have been the correct one, it has been discontinued. Anyone have one?
