Cast some Lyman 225462 to try in a 222 and 223. Bullets cast nicely and all was good until I started running them through the LubriSizers and things went weird. Had an unopened can (yea it’s old ) of Hornady gas checks. Checks fit fine on the base of the bullet but about one half of the bullet length into the sizing die it got hard to push further without mangling the bullet nose really bad. So after tearing the die apart and giving it a good cleaning tried again, same result. Broke out a new box of Hornady GCs, they worked perfectly as did some old Lyman GCs. I measured the old Hornady GCs and they were .228 in diameter where all the others were around.223, no wonder the didn’t work, I was trying to size the checks .005.
I suppose these were meant for a Savage 22 Hipower. They take a .228 bullet. If anyone needs these please let me know.
