What you can try is maybe adding heat shrink the the slug to increase the OD. I did that with Lyman 12 ga foster slugs and while the results isn’t spectacular, it’s enough for deer hunting within 50 yards:

I hear you very well.
I have a combination gun that shoots 20 gauge Rottweill (brenneke) slugs almost like a rifle up to 45 meters to the same poi as the 7 mm rifle barrel. Scope or irons,all lined up. And it is a fixed full choke,go figure.
No slug of my own can do that good, I have tried many... so I bought lots of that Rottweill ammo and sort of practise only with my slugs... or rather RB:s. I enjoy the easy recoil and short distance shooting plates or clays is fun. I have generally better slug results with a 12 gauge , some 20 RB:s group ok but still that Rottweill is amazing.
