Question Unusual Lyman Round Ball Mold question...

I have a Lyman Mold I acquired a while back and I can't find it in any of the lists for Lyman Molds old or new.

It is a .410 Round Ball Mold and is marked 410 with an 8 underneath it. I looked at all of the Lyman Round Ball molds and from what I can see they do not offer a 410 round ball mold now or ever .

Any information would be appreciated thanks .

Well the 8 is a match mark, to keep the two halves of the mold together during manufacturing.

From what I gather, a lot of round ball molds did not get separately cataloged, especially if they didn't make many of that diameter.

When Barlow ran Ideal, round ball molds were given their own numbers. But after Lyman bought Ideal, they discontinued that practice and simply stamped them with the diameter.

This is what I also believed to be the case ... newer moulds - diameter of ball .
