Unless you have a casting machine, I don't think you want a Magma mold.

The sprue plate isn't like conventional molds.

If you're a conventional caster like most of the rest of us, you'd be best to stand clear of Magma Molds.

    diff?

There is a huge difference if the Lee drops the right bullet for you. There isn't much difference at all if the Lee drops the wrong bullet. But, 300 is 300 and that is, on it's face, a pretty large investment in anyone's book. Also, that Magma is usually for high production machines and not the same type critter as a one-at-a-time caster. There are custom mold makers with lathe boring equipment who charge about 100 for a single cavity iron mold that will drop exactly the bullet you design.... within the parameters of their equipment.

Don't know where you're getting $300 for a Magam mold. They are $84.50. They will make them to fit RCBS handles. That may be a few dollars extra? Don't know what kind of spur plate they'd use on a hand cast mold. Never seen one.

    Magma molds

I use four magma molds to cast with. They are great molds to hand cast with. I have the 230 grain round nose for the 45 and two of the 200SWC in 45. The sprue plats are great for cutting the sprues with a gloved hand after they reach casting temp. The sprue Plate looks like it has wings. One wing hangs off each side of the mold. RCBS handles fit the molds with modificitation. On the right side the sprue plate runs thrugh the channel and you need to cut notch in the mounting area of the handle. If you just cut of the end of the handle the right half of the mold will flop around. I will try to post a pic of the handle i use tomorrow. Bill
