Just the thing to have when that tiger tries to get in the Howdah with you.

Those are nice looking stocks! Bulberry? I have a 14" 45/70 and it is a big boomer. 2x Simmons pistol scope and banging the gong at 150 is automatic. Beyond that I can't hold it steady enough to clank it everytime.

The 45/70 is the ultimate short range thumper. I keep most of my loads a little slower then you, and I'm guessing that with that shorter barrel you can really feel that nearly 1k fps load!

Man that goes by Otter made the stock set. The felt recoil is less than my tender 357 max or 41 mag. The grip sure helps. I'm taking it hog hunting at the end of month. 45nut has a stock set from Otter.

Here is a 500 S&W I cut down to 9" for a friend. I got him into casting and he is using the LEE 440 gr boolit.

man...that .500 is an even bigger boomer! I didn't even know that a contender could take the beating that the 500 s&w dishes out. Nice job cutting that barrel back too, looks very professional.

I'd like to have a .500, but theres nothing I would need to do with it that the old 45/70 doesn't already do very nicely.

Pretty sure the 500 is on the Encore frame, I don't think the Contender will handle it. Either way it is a tiger by the tail.

Yes the picture I posted of the 500 S&W is on the Encore frame.
