I am about to order a accurate mold. #. 46-405 VG
I will be taking it in 2 cavities
I have the choice of iron bloc 1.80 or 2.35
with one is best in casting ability
pro and cons on both please
will use wheel weigh to cast
thank you

Based on the diameter of the bullet, I would opt for the larger block, for less than $10 more. Larger block would hold the heat better and be less prone to warpage from over heating.
Winelover
thanks
will do
It will obviously be heavier, but that extra size holds heat and to me that's not a bad thing. The only iron molds I own are for big bullets, are all single cavity, and cast like a dream. I personally don't see a down side to the larger blocks regardless of material.
I have Saeco 4 cavities used to the weight
I didn't doubt you knew about the weight of the mold when casting. I was actually referring to the bigger blocks retaining the heat and casting nicely filled out bullets.
I didn't look up that particular mold #, but usually Tom's molds that end in V are a wide flat nose. I'm sure with the big blocks in iron, it will be a pleasure to cast with.
the advice you gave me about heat distribution is well taken
I have a single cavities accurate and I must say very well made and cast good
and thinking about it when I cast with my Saeco 2 cavities molds I noticed heat spot on the thick sides and being longer the accurate mole with equal metal around the cavities should help like you said
again thank you and take care

I have 2 Lyman 1x 45/70 500 grn molds. 1 is larger, holds the heat better (keeps the sprue plate/mold warm better), and is easier to cast better boolits
Not Accurate but the same principle.
