    Not your average hunting season

After becoming a licensed falconer I pretty much give up all other hunting and couldn't be happier. I'm in my 3rd season 2nt with this guy.

Neat, thanks for sharing. What kind of bird is that? And do they use other varieties or just that one?

The biggest cost for me was building the building or mews. To keep him in it's a 10x14. If I was to guess maybe a couple hundred plus the mews

This one is a redtail hawk. He is a juvenile and will get his redtail after his first molt at 1 year of age. Right now he is it. I did have a American kestrel for a bit, beautiful little bird. I'm looking for a Gos hawk or ferruginous hawk when I go out west next month

I'll admit to my envy. I've always loved raptors - "My Side of the Mountain" was my favorite book as a kid. Then I found that being near birds causes an allergic response that feels like a hot poker stuck up my nose.

What a great way to hunt and bond with nature is falconry.
