38spl/357mag should do most if not everything I need. It all depends on what firearm is being used.
Well this is really tough. Do you mean "if you could have only one of each". I guess if the SHTF I'd have to go with the 44 Mag/Spcl as I could pair up my Marlin 1894 Cowboy, Ruger SBH, S&W 29-2, Dan Wesson 44V, Rossi 44 single shot and Ruger Deerfield 44 Carbine.

After lots of thought about this I would have to go with a double or a drilling

If just 1 caliber for my needs 44 mag in a 4" mod. 69 S&W I can use it for CC , hunt deer or with light loads small game same would be true for 357 , 41 , 44 special and 45 colt .
I don't have a mod 69 but would be a great 1 gun for me.
8 bore parker hammer gun, grade 4 Damascus barrels, ivory beads of course...go big!
I voted for 30-06 because there are so many people that have them there will always be plenty of ammo available.
I take the 357/38. Close second is the 22Lr. Wallacem in Ga
Rifle would be 30/06............shotgun 12ga. .............revolver .44mag, and if i had to pick just one out of those 3 , gotta go with the 12ga.
.44 because my Redhawk is my favorite pistol. I think I need another R92 to go with it.
Went with 38 special. I like wheelguns and concealed carry.
.303 Brit because it will do everything I need it to do from target shooting to hunting

scopes and bags are cool, but palm rests 'n' irons RULE!
.30-06 for me. Can pop squirrel heads, and will take down anything in the U.S. Sometimes "one size fits all" is true.

My avatar is almost a dead ringer for my little buddy Chico. Six pounds of mean that thought he was a Pit Bull. Miss that little guy.
223/5.56 because ammo is so plentiful. But then again some pistol calibers may be considered as well as they are easier to cast for...

30-06 cause you can load it all the way down to to pipsqueek loads with sabot'd 223's or all the way up to 250 gr. thumpers. mice to moose and beyond with one rifle.
That's versatility, plus ammo can be found almost anywhere on the planet. Brass is everywhere, data near endless, 30 cal molds in countless variations, Whats not to like?
30-06, Only gun I have 2 of also my 2 most accurate guns "IF I do my part".
My one caliber would be 35 cal.
I will use the same caliber bullets in 9mm pistols, 38/357 mag and max, 358 win, 35 whelen, 357 sig, 350 Legend, and many more in 35 caliber.

Several years old and still going. I went with 10mm and it looks like only 2 others went that way. While I'd hate to give up the 44 Mag, I could manage to kill all the paper targets I need to with the 10. In any case, I went that way because most of my handguns are 10mm, and I have enough brass to last till eternity comes and goes.
If I had to live my life again, I'd make the same mistakes, only sooner. T Bankhead

Good for coyote, deer, antelope, elk, moose, and bear, PLUS a good cast bullet shooter.
