I recently bought a bucket of misc. lead. In the bucket were a couple of sticks(?) of metal marked 50/50 solder. My question is how do I use it? My appreciation for any knowledge shared.

2 bars of 50/50 = one pound of tin.
This is enough to sweeten up 50 lb. of wheel weights.

Thanks for the info Hickory. Now back to the melting pot.
Depends on your alloy. What do you usually use? Download the alloy calculator or we can give you some advice based on your alloy needs.
The 50 / 50 solder is 50% tin (SN) 50% lead (PB). If the bar weighs one pound then it contains a half (.5) pound of tin.
what is 50-50 worth ? I just bought a bunch of lead found some too ...

Not sure if there is any OSH stores near by but the ones around here went out of business recently and closed up. 90% liquidation sales. Bought up 2 full cases of solder bars for dirt cheap ( maybe $50? ). retailed for 9-10$ each. Mix them in with the wheel weight lead to tone down the mix.
Having come into 15 bars or so, I keep thinking to try adding some to my COWW muffins s next time I cast; thing is, I'm happy with my results as -is. May just sell am
