The cerakote is a great idea for a revolver that will not be handled gently. I like the black one and might pick one up but it won't replace my trusty Single Six.

I saw that, too. Anyone from one of those states care to give an answer? It has the same safety as all Ruger Revolvers

from another forum ....
Minnesota has a 'Saturday Night Special' ban:
""Saturday night special pistol" means a pistol other than an antique firearm or a pistol for which the propelling force is carbon dioxide, air or other vapor, or children's pop guns or toys, having a frame, barrel, cylinder, slide or breechblock:
(1) of any material having a melting point (liquidus) of less than 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit, or
(2) of any material having an ultimate tensile strength of less than 55,000 pounds per square inch, or
(3) of any powdered metal having a density of less than 7.5 grams per cubic centimeter."
https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/624.712
Aluminum usually has a liquidus above 1000, although maybe some funky alloy doesn't.
There are AL alloys that are less than 55ksi (I wonder if an AR pistol lower made from 6061 (45ksi), vs the normal 7075, is legal - ?)
Solid steel is maybe 7.9 g/cc. 7.5 is marginal for MIM - some is above and some is under - although I doubt MIM would be used for 'frame, barrel, cylinder, slide or breechblock'.
Anyway, that's a guess.

Well I preordered one in all black

Looks like a decent gun for the price....I am surprised at how heavy it is.
Perhaps the problem is the grip frame that's made from zinc [according to the article above].
Zinc has a melting point of 420 C [788 F] and a density that may be too low.
"when heated to 200 °C [392 F], zinc loses its elasticity and turns to a gray powder;
....density – 7.13 g/cm³;" --->>> https://melscience.com/US-en/article...operties-zinc/

You had me at Minnesota and Massachusetts
Califorina, thankfully, exempted single actions from their infamous "Roster"
Since I moved from California, I am happy for anyone who can get what they want.
Long ago, I determined that "cowboy" guns were the best solution if one were to reside in California
Thanks for that link rfd. That clears up some questions for me. Zinc grip frame, aluminium frame, steel cylinder and barrel. It should make a nice light trail companion- I'm in. My Heritage will remain in the disassembled pile until I have nothing else to do.....

several have said this will be a "nice light weight packing pistol". The new Wrangler weighs 30oz, an all steel Single Six is only 2 ounces heavier.
I see the biggest savings to be in your wallet.
..
prolly would have been lighter if a sleeved barrel was used - it's a pretty large chunka steel as is.
I guess the zinc offsets the aluminium weight wise. I see "alloy frame" and I automatically think "light weight". I often overlook the obvious dang it. But I still can't wait to check one out.

It looks like bargain fun to me. I like it.
I'd like to see it in a a 32 magnum.

Prediction...not as good as a Heritage.
Hmmm not significantly lighter than a single six, scratch momma packing it.
