Zip-lok baggie for mine also. Crazy Mark, before he passed spent several days scanning a #1 onto a disk and sent me a copy so I have a digital backup. I spent many, many days with that old manual when I started casting. No mentor....I was self-schooled and made many mistakes before I turned out a box of twenty .30/06 which were burned in my old 1903A1 Springfield. What do you mean by full length resizing? You mean .30 cases fired in a Browning MG won't chamber in my Springfield unless I full length resize them? Where can I get a FL resize die for a 310 tool? Why don't my primers seat like they're suppose to? What's that little ring around the primer pocket for? Then, I found a mentor./beagle

No mentor for me either, I have been casting about 15 years and learned everything from books ( like this ) and hands on.
I have made many, many booboos and will continue to do so, but having the wealth of info these older manuals offer at my bench is priceless.
Now , " good cast loads for 32-20 please" ,,,,, enter the manuals.

No one taught me how to cast boolits. My dad taught me how to cast fishing sinkers and I went on casting boolits on my own learn from books of lyman 3rd ed. and went from there and now that I been on this site. I learning more.

Very cool thread, just found out that my old 1958 Lyman Handbook of Cast bullets is number one (bought it at a gun show several years ago for seven bucks). I just ordered the 1973 edition from Cornell Publishing. Can't have too much information......
Mine sits on the shelf with the other manuals, the white plastic spline is cracked and doubt I will mess with it.

My Lyman #1 is in the reference cabinet next to the Ideal Handbook Reloading Ammunition Number 37 - 38 and 39's. Excellent references for non-common bullet powder charges ... if you have a few pounds of the old powders. Here's the old loading data for DuPont BP & Smokeless powders ... http://digital.hagley.org/I20091118_...age/9/mode/1up

There are so many cool boolits in there to drool over like the Hudson 3 diameter for the 32-40. Thanks for the tip on the reprint ! It's ordered to save my original.
I have a second edition cast handbook in good shape right now, and I have a reloading handbook 45th that needs new binding. Wish I new someone with a machine. I asked at the school supply store but they didn't have one, they had given it away.
Have that copy with the foldout and white binding. Use it more than most of my other manuals since I cast with mostly old ideal steel moulds. Don’t have a tie to go with it.
Wish list. Things my daughter and I are looking for.
Ideal and Lyman HP pins
Kimber micro 9 mags
Star die removal tool, 430 die & TP.

What a cool find! I always like the original of anything when I can find or afford it. If not, repops are just fine with me.
10x, thanks for posting that link. I had no idea re-prints were available.
gavlan, does it have any 9 X 57 or 9.3 X 57 data in it?

I don't have any wild cat fire arms either. They came with some others. The one i use the most out of what came is the Lyman 3rd cast book. A fellow on F.B was giving them away. I got some others too. That came with, I enjoy looking through them. I have the poster too like the OP has. I hung it on my wall.
Cut my teeth on that one as well. Now have two. That's one of the best reference manuals Lyman ever published. Before Orygun Mark (Crazy Mark) passed away, he scanned in the whole manual and sent it to me on a disk. That took time. At least I have a digital backup; legal or not./beagle

I did 10x and thanks. I was in that thread. I also received the Lyman book from Cornell's a couple days ago. Gotta say I've enjoyed it immensely! I noticed some of the old loads were pretty warm by today's standards, most notably the 45 Colt.

I am starting to find that some of the published loads for 9.3X57 are not even near warm. I have worked up to max published load and discovered no sign of pressure and groups were starting to get smaller but I ran into the max load barrier. Even the max loads seem to be very mild pressure wise.
