Last i bought was $30 each for 3 - 5 gallon buckets and i brought empties, they don’t like giving away good buckets.
I feel pretty good then... I got 1.5pails for free and gave $20 a pail for 2 more... and got to keep the pails

That’s a good deal. Quite a few places I’ve visited I’ve left buckets with my info on them, some times they call and some don’t.
Today's haul

donuts, coffee, coffee cards, cast bullets, fish jigs and sinkers, adult beverages, just about anything that conveys appreciation. Depends on the haul as well,a little grease goes along way IMHO
Thats a nice score! Check out the stickies about sorting weights. You don't want to melt a lot of zinc with your lead alloy.
This ain't my first go at WW lead. It's just the first time I've had to actually pay so I want sure how I did price wise

Two 5 gal buckets $20 each. Sorted into;
114.5lbs clip on lead
52.5lbs Tape on
12lbs Zn
74lbs Fe
a couple pounds of foam weight. no idea what that is.
Got 65lbs of vent pipe flashing for $20
Only $478.50 and I got a free set of tires!
Actually, a local tire dealer has been giving me weights for free for the past few years and this was the first time I needed tires since I moved here. Normally buckets of weights cost me a six pack of homebrew.
All my mixed weights were free from a friend with a car dealership and repair shop. I finally told him no more please. I have 6 full to overflowing sorted CCWW and 2 full to the brim pails of unsorted. With my current health problems I just might not get these sorted or smelted. Already have about 100 lbs. in ingots of this lead. I also have heard of the $30/ pail unsorted price and don`t get the pail.Robert
I just bought 1400 plus pounds of lead and 802 pounds were coww, they cost me .20 cents a pound
A tire dealer in Longview TX wanted $180.00 for 2 buckets each 2/3 full. I passed

I pay $35/5 gallon bucket and around here it’s very hard to find.
$60/ full 5 gal bucket. got to find another source.
I have gotten 11 buckets full in the last 5 weeks in my area. 3 of them were free. 2 were $15 each, the others were $20. Even when I was doing this 11-12 years ago I never paid over $20 for a bucket full or $10 for half. I've been lucky on these as far as being able to get them. Keep hearing how hard they are to find in other areas and low lead content. During sorting I seem to be around 80% lead in each bucket.
I've only done this once for a batch of WW - call it 100 lb. By the time I got the iron, zinc, etc out, and clean ingots I wound up with about 60 lb. Is that anywhere near normal results?
Sounds a bit light, but still not terrible. 60lbs is a lot of bullets. My buckets are anywhere from 90-115 lbs. I usually pull out about 20lbs or so of zinc, steel, and misc junk like valve stems and lug nuts, etc. The rest it all usable lead. Lots of clip ons in my last 4 buckets. Could be your area too. Lead weights are being phased out in a lot of places. If I ever start getting less than 50% lead then I will pay less or leave it sitting there. I have 2 buckets of sorted junk....steel weights and zinc. One full and one half full. That will go to the scrap yard. Doubt it will bring much though. Likely no enough to justify buying a bucket from a tire shop that mostly contains that stuff plus my work in sorting it.
A nice bottle of brandy for the tire shop boss every now and then keeps the supply going and the price down.
