New a few boxes to ship cased guns. About 40x12x6. Checked Uline, but no luck. Before I but some oversized monster boxes to cut down, wonder if anyone can suggest better source. Thx.

talk to your local front end repair shop (auto) some of the suspension parts for trucks might be just the ticket. I just put quick struts in an 2007 edge and the box they came in was 8x8x42 long heavy heavy card board all re-enforced. I'm sure that if you went to a trck centre ( highway tractor) they might have something as well drag link boxes tend to be very large as well. Also body shops get panels and bumper covers in large weird shaped boxes as well.
Worst case, get 3 or 4 pallet slip sheets. Std size is 40x48 or 48x48. Make your own box.

Just go to the local gun store and ask them. They usually have all kinds they have to throw away.
have you checked the local gun stores?

A lot of gun shops save boxes with their new guns and give them to the customers upon purchase if they want them (we did at the 3 stores I worked at). Another option I have used is to try a lighting store that sells lamps and fluorescent tubes. If they haven't already broken down their shipping cartons and tossed them into their cardboard recycle bin they might have something you can use. A lot of those boxes have heavy cardboard reinforced corners to help prevent breakage of fragile lamps and tubes so they give extra strength and security for shipping guns. That worked for me a while ago when I needed some shipping boxes ...
I may have passed my "Best Before" date, but I haven't reached my "Expiry" date!
At the sporting goods store that I worked at, the boxes were crushed and baled with all of the other cardboard, unless the customer wanted the box. Usually, if they had us mount a scope or other accessories, the box got crushed. Go and ask that they save a box or two, and ask when to come back, or call, to save them from the baler.

Gun stores are the best bet. I keep mine around for a few weeks but toss them out. I always have new ones coming in.
Buy gun cases on line they come in boxes.
When I had my shop selling on the net that's where I got mine by the hundred delivered.
Same as sellers do today. Case is part of shipping costs charged on the non big 1-+ K purchases.
Golf Pro Shops are another source of long boxes.
Fact: Some people are alive simply because it's illegal to kill them.
Carpet store and get the tube that they ship it on. VERY heavy duty!
I've gotten boxes from the Container Store, try finding a box big enough to send a 2 fin aircraft propeller. The CS had boxes that were a very close fit.
"Service Master" packed our house preparatory to cleaning after a fire. They have boxes they use for firearms and fishing rods. I assume similar companies would have them also.
BIG OR SMALL I LIKE THEM ALL, 577 TO 22 HORNET.
