This was sold years ago as pull down powder for the m1 carbine
Being the m1 is long gone for the miltary is that the end of finding surplus powder?

turtlezx, Yes, it was a milsurp propellant, and long ago it was relatively inexpensive and came in 3 different burn rates that I know of: H 110/W, AA #9, and something else. Unless you can find it at a screaming bargain (Pat's Reloading, Jeff Bartlett, et. al), I'd opt for the known powders, especially AA #9.

Probably but I would look at the shooter's world line of powders, they are made by lovex and they have powders that closely duplicate accurate powders in burn rate and they have full load data on their site.

There were actually 3 batches (lots) of WC 820 sold
WC 820 - H110 speed of LONG ago which is only found in storage at Old Pharts (or their offspring of some ilk) location
WC 820(f) - HS 7 speed sold for a very short period of time and labeled WC 820 (f) at least when obtained from Bartlett
WC 820(N) - AA #9 speed was the last sold and sold by several different purveyors of Milsurp Powders.
I have compared the original and the (f) against the comparison powders over the chronograph and find they compared perzactly. At least as close as two different lots of the same canister powders.
For whatever reason I have found that I have . . . HAVE to use Magnum pistol or regular rifle powders to light the newest 820(N) in 357 Mag or 44 Mag cartridges, but Pistol (SP or LP depending on the cartridge) primers will light it fine in cast boolit rifle cartridge loads.
SP or LP will light the oldest H110 or WC 820 (f)speed lot of WC 820 just fine.
I know of no one else requiring Mag primers to light their H 820(N) powder.
Unless I get back to shooting like I used to I have a lifetime supply of each.

Theres a fine line between genius and crazy .. I'm that line
and depending on the day I might just step over that line !!!
the Ramshot line of powder is a Western Powder Inc. product
and the Accurate line and Norma line of powders are also a Western product
the majority of wc820 sold is the same powder aa9 and enforcer are. the way surplus powder prices have skyrocked you about better off buying the commercial versions. At least then you don't have big variations in burning speed.
Im down to my last 8 lb jug / aa#9 speed went through 3 jugs in the last 6 years

Back in the early 1990s a friend and I purchased a quantity of W820 and W680 from Pat's Reloading in Massillon, Ohio. Still have plenty on hand. That batch of 820, as far as we could determine, is exactly halfway between then currently available H110 and Hercules 2400 and is a great magnum pistol powder, even though it was made for the .30 Carbine. We were told the W680 was originally designated for the 7.62 X 39. I still have some W844 that I got from Pat's and we were told to use H335 reloading data with it. Big Boomer
