..............Yup, been there, done that. Also, upon extracting a case I've had a very thin fragile lead ring follow the case out.

    FPMIII and/or Buckshot,
Any guesses on what caused it?

Too soft a bullet alloy, causing the bullet to upset too fast in the space between case and throat. Too much space between case and throat might also be a contributing factor...

    What causes it?

Yeah....the chamber is TOO BIG for the cases! But I'm gonna correct that with some cases from RMC up in Cody, Wyoming!!

Kirk doesn't cut oversize chambers by the way; this chamber is probably tighter than some other .45x110s! It's the mere fact that if you want a chamber for shooting PP.....you should have one cut for PP! However....with cases made to fit this chamber....it'll all work out soon!

FWIW, I shoot PP in a standard chamber, with standard brass - and no paper ring. Shoots fine too!

I don't believe in the chamber thing neither..Standard chamber in my 45070 and it shoot paper patch pretty well..Although I do use a bore diameter bullet of .450 inch and patch up to .4575

Rick - if you are convinced that the 45-110's are not SAAMI and the cause - call Starline and ask for Robert. Ask him what length he is extruding them to.
The last batch of 45-70's from there were ... http://shilohrifle.com/forums/viewto...light=starline

If you hear the words you want to hear - order from the same lot
    Regards

I've NEVER THOUGHT that not being SAAMI was the cause! Kirk Bryan don't make any sloppy chambers and if anything this one is TIGHTER than SAAMI however that's not the problem. Go back and read over my postings as I think I explained the problem fairly well in earlier postings!!
