    Question Lyman custom sprue plate

Who makes a Lyman 2-cavity sprue plate with a raised border to hold the sprue puddle like LBT moulds has? I tried to cast yesterday with a Lyman 401638 and my Mag20 furnace is pouring alloy too fast for puddles to form on the sprue plate.I need a sprue plate that has a raised area to hold the puddle.

I silver soldered some washers on my sprue plate.
to make button removal easier, I put a taper on the inside edge of the washer.
As I used the mold more, I could make smaller and smaller buttons within the adaptation.
I wouldn't use lead solder as the washers will ultimately move.
The low temp silver solders should be enough.

I believe the 20-pounder may be adjustable for flow rate...

    Good nuff machinist I thimk.
We need somebody/something to keep the government (cops and bureaucrats too) HONEST (by non government oversight).

Every "freedom" (latitude) given to government is a loophole in the rule of law. Every loophole in the rule of law is another hole in our freedom. When they even obey the law that is. Too often government seems to feel itself above the law.

We forgot to take out the trash in 2012, but 2016 was a charm! YESSS!

Jeff what size holes did you drill? They look smaller than the ones in a standard Lyman plate.

2mm. Made them real small to minimise the cut off mark. Bullets are now more consistent and variation down to +/- 0.1gr.

You did GREAT on the sprue plate.
Now we got to get you to sharpen your screwdrivers....
I find on my sprue plates, as I use a wooden dowel to push them, I cut on the other side of the plate an half moon so the dowel can push the plate back without slipping off. That helps a lot when I am casting.
