I'm starting to do a lot more tumble lube over PC. Mainly due to ease and various sizing issues I've had with PC.
Some things i really like about NF is how it spreads when tumbling.
2nd thing i LOVE is how fast it dries.
3rd thing is after 2 coats, the lube grooves are decently filled.
Im almost certain this will be my new pistol lube as i can lube and load in less then an hour...

I just melted a 45acp bullet on my glass stove top. The nu finish turned White and i can hardly wipe it off...
Its still stuck on there...

I have been coating some of my jacketed bullets with NuFinish.
it seems to cut down on copper in the barrel, but the powder fouling seems harder to clean out.
I thought Nu-Finish is a mix of wax plus fine rubbing compound grit hense it’s ability to restore a heavily oxidized paint finish. The grit keeps copper fouling in check but the high carnuba wax seals carbon fouling like glue, maybe some patches with Zippo lighter fluid would dissolve the wax.
Don’t know how hard on the barrel steel the grit would be. Might be good for smoothing a rough bore but not for long term everyday shooting.
Nu finish has ZERO wax.

On a lot of my odds and ends projects Ive been using nu finish as a final polish media for buffing. A soft cloth and a little nu finish rub thru the drying stage and you cana have a mirror finish on aluminum pieces. In my vibratory polisher I use a small amount to treat the corn cobs and again a very bright mirror like finish. After a few hundred rounds you bores should really shine.
it's a polymer.
it just isn't cross-linked like Hy-Tek is.
Hy-Tek is the next experiment, and eventually powder coated jacketed bullets.
I'm still working on the prep for the P/C, and will try some half jacketed revolver stuff first..
yeah I got some NuFinish coated boolits sitting here too, I just haven't been spending the time playing with my rifles recently.

Preheated my toaster oven to the lowest setting. Tumbled the reject boolits in a hefty coat of nufinish. Baked them for 10 minutes in the oven and they look like this.
I'm going to try these soon.

not a cast bullet thing.
but I have been tumbling some jacketed bullets in nu-finish in my pin tumbler using corn cob.
it has cut down on the copper in the barrel by about a million percent.
I cleaned the barrel after 75 rds and got only black carbon out of it and NO blue on the patches.
I didn't do a super deep cleaning just some foaming bore cleaner sitting for 1/2 hr and then some patches a little hoppes on another patch wait 5 minutes and a couple more patches.
The nu finish idea for me came with the discovery that it had ZERO wax.
From there, the beautiful way it coats and the fact it doesn't come off of molten lead makes me think it can be a real winner.
Now realizing i can (cook) the finish in 5 minutes @ such a low heat makes double coating/ high velocity/ fast process a thing.
I mean, 300°oxidizes the coating 5 minutes. 2/3 coats doesn't look clumpy@ all.

the thing about it is it is a very, very thin coat.
I don't know if it is quite enough protection/barrier for a cast bullet, but it is worth a try.
like I say I have been running it on jacketed and it seems to be working there in a couple of different rifles.
I need to do more testing, I just haven't decided on the rifle I want to use just yet.
the two I have been using have exceptionally good barrels and they might be skewing the results.

Something i noticed is if you really glob the lube on,it still lays down flat.
I put a lot of pressure on the lubed bullet on my mirror finished island, it doesn't come off! So no gummed up dies!
Of course, i need to load these to truly say that.

so it does or doesn't have a fine abrasive in it? that's why I haven't messed with it, I don't want to were out my barrels.

Lots of residue in barrel after 3 shots.
And depending on coat thickness and humid, it wipes off on the brass mouth.
