Today I Learned That I know less than I Thought.
Tommorow will be the same, I'm Sure!!
Hate to say it AnotherNew1, but that doesn't look like real pewter to me. Is it hallmarked?

I had doubts too, look's like that soft but brittle stuff the Chinese use on fake pewter picture frames I've seen. It will bend like pewter but bend it far enough and it will snap off like pot metal.
Be careful what you wish for!
Uh oh here's why I got it

Interesting. Seagull Pewter does make the real stuff, but it has absolutely none of the usual form factors.
Congratulations on the find!

You need to put some big dents in that stuff before the wife sees it
My hauls will never come in the house, they stay in the shop, she never goes out there unless it's to get me for something she needs done. The well has dried up around here for the last three weeks, I've hit a dozen thrift stores in three cities twice a week and not one piece.
Be careful what you wish for!
That's a nice 1 day haul. Congrats again!
The Woodbury mark is on the first page of this thread. I like Woodbury. I've found their pieces consistently heavier than similar styles from other companies.

Found a pair of candle sticks today in a thrift store, $3 each. Together I'd guess they weighed a pound, I passed on them because I wasn't sure about the markings, even though I was 95% sure they were pewter, I wasn't sure what else might be in the alloy. When I got back to the car I searched the markings Made in Italy - Peltro, come to find out my hunch was right, Peltro is pewter in Italian. My stump was sore, I wasn't going to make the trip all the way in and to the back of the store again, guess I better start taking the phone with me when I go in the stores.

"In Italy the word used is "Peltro", from Latin "Peltrum", which is also the same common root for pewter and peautre. "

For $3 each, if they had markings, I might have taken a chance. I like to burn candles anyway which can often be found cheap at thrift stores.
It wasn't the $6, it was the thought of dragging home more stuff that I may not use. My Mom and Dad ran an antique business for years, I would go with them to help with shows and at auctions, it didn't take long and I stating buying "neat stuff" left and right, it became addicting. After some years I filled this BIG house with knick knacks that quickly migrated to cardboard boxes and into rooms converted to store all the stuff. Now thirty years later I finally decided to clear the majority of it out, since the snow left I've been cleaning house. I set a rule, anything I haven't touched in the last two years and not of real value is going! I've filled my towing trailer four times and hauled most of it to the dump, some was donated, I've got at least four more trips to go. It's a very cleansing feeling to free up so much room, especially in my shop and the basement! Plus the kids won't be faced with the mess one day when we are gone.

For some reason, every time i try uploading a picture on my phone, my browser crashes.
Anyway, has anyone run across any pieces marked:
Nambe (all lower case)
Classic (in a box)
Thanks.
David

I'm looking for a shooter grade Smith & Wesson Victory model in .38 Special.
That is John Somers pewter. He is a relatively famous artisan and his stuff has some value. If you haven't melted it yet, check it out.
