i remember an eskimo woman who shot a grizzly/polar(i can't remember) bear. she used a 30-30 and it was self defence. i am not sure but it happened in the 1920's?

I bet she was an interesting gal to talk to. Not many out there who'd have been that steady nerved, I'm guessing that as tough as she must have been, the ol' pucker factor was pretty high for a few minutes.
