Hey guys,
Got this 1st year 1895 45-70 recently and obviously I am going to cast for it. Slugged the bore and I am gonna need a .460 for sure (.4580-4).
Went to NOE but the only thing they had in stock of the design I was looking at was a 5 cavity brass. That would get heavy as all get out, no thanks.
I went over to accurate molds and I am thinking a 2 cavity 2.8" brass with the 46-405D in one cavity and 46-405DG in the other so I'll have a plain base and a gas check. Any thoughts on these particular designs? They look like the RCBS 405 don't they? Which I hear is the primo design in these lever guns. Also I'm planning a 20-1 alloy if anyone is wondering. Figured I would ask before pulling the trigger on a mould that's that expensive. Never had a custom job before or brass for that matter, just steel.
Thanks all,
Andrew
