I had a Kel-Tec and want something higher end. I had problems with the 30 round magazines so it was not something I would let the gf use as a home defense gun. Plus she had difficulty operating the bolt.
The gun will be both a SD gun that the gf can handle indoors (.223 is too loud) and a cast shooter for plinking. Reliability is important. Having bolt lock back on the last shot is desirable as well.
My understanding is that these are built on dedicated lowers as the standard AR lower will not work unless the hammer is changed....is that correct? I have an AR lower I could use for the build if it is suitable. I waded through pages of stuff on the AR15 forum and got overwhelmed. So if a build is too complicated, I will buy a complete gun.
As my SD pistols are Glocks, I would prefer to use Glock magazines.
Lastly, it should be a flat top as it will wear a Sparc dot sight.
Any advice or or suggestions are welcomed. If there is a "Build an AR in 9mm for Dummies" book please let me know
