    H&R .410 Topper

I bought a model158 topper in .410 , says full choke on the barrel. Not really into shotguns, but have 6 other H&R s in rifle calibers.

It was made in 1969 and in really good shape. So I bought it with plans to give it to my grandsons when they get older.

Anyways I have some .410 ammo but some of it is slugs. So my question is, can I shoot slugs though a full choke barrel?

I agree won't hurt anything and have done it with the larger 20 ga. and 12 ga. shotguns. Stick to regular old Remington slugs or whatever flavor of old fashioned slugs suits you and see what shoots best.

One good thing is that it was made in 69, well before they did the asinine transfer bar modification. You should be able to shoot somewhere near a jillion rounds out of it before needing anything except cleaning, my Model 58 from about 1975 did anyway.

Roughly 80% of the H&R/ NEF's that I have owned or been around that had the transfer bar have broken, usually at a most inopportune time.
