I bought 3 lbs of H110 off a guy a month ago. Bought it cheap, knowing that this was older powder, and I'll only use for target rounds. But then I got thinking, is there any way to check the volatility of this powder before I start charging cases?

If it smells fine, is not chunky, doesn't have any red rust looking stuff in it I wouldn't worry about it. I'm still have some from the 70's/80's in the metal cans that I'm using.
Should smell like solvent. Not acrid/acidic. Your nose will know the difference immediately. Red dust is a sure sign it's gone bad. And if it's in a metal can and there are holes eaten through the can......well you see where that ones going
Ah yes, the smell test I've completed this inspection and it looks like I'm ready to go... While I may not trust the powder for competition shooting, it should be just fine for plinking boolits.
Thanks guys for the feedback
After it passes that test, load a ladder and get some chrony results, if it performs as expected, then its all good. I have used some real old powder that was not very well stored, it worked just fine with no degradation that I could tell. I had to do some research on it because it was in packaging I had not seen, but because it was sealed I felt it was safe enough to work up a load.

You mentioned using the H110 for plinking and target rounds. Are you aware that H110 is mainly a powder for use in magnum pistol cartridges at full throttle loads? It does not play well in reduced target level loads. I just thought I would mention that.
