Amazing Grace. Of course! What list of hymns is complete without it?
Go Rest High on that Mountain. Traditionally sang at funerals in my family. Beautiful song.

Here's one by Jamey Johnson, written by Randy Houser. I don't think it's found in any Baptist hymnal, but I love it. Just a beautiful song.

I'm not a Christian, but I'm raising one. And I enjoy good music just as much as the next fella.

Amazing Grace, usually. When I'm in a car with my girlfriend and she's driving... "Nearer, My God, to Thee".
For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. Ecclesiastes 1:18
He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool become servant to the wise of heart. Proverbs 11:29
...Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matthew 25:40

Not a hymn. Just 1 of my many favorites. The long version I'll play inside my house just to set an atmosphere.

On Zion's Glorious Summit. Used to go to a Church with about 2500 people singing that. It was beautiful. We sang it a little slower than this though:

You know, song is a highly subjective thing. I've always been a fan of blues, or at least the kind that grew out of black gospel. It's very moving in a more secular way, but its roots always shine through. I've also learned to appreciate those who can't sing on key very well, but put all their heart into it. I have a suspicion Christ doesn't care much about being in tune, but DOES care greatly about what's put into the songs of praise to Him. Such singers seem to me to reflect humanity itself. We may often not quite get the key right, but the MAIN thing is that we're in the fight as best as we know how to conduct it, and are WILLING to take it on. Courage and faith combined make everything so much sweeter than it appears to those who are too persnickety to appreciate the humble things.

I will let this thread die . Hard to imagine for me there if no interest here . Could care less I put it up or views . If it's no count it should fade away . I love hymns but there is little interest seems like . So be it .

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. — Ephesians 6:12

There are just so many hymns that have moved me greatly in the past, that the list could go on forever, and each singer puts something special of themselves into their singing, too. I regret to say that I'm so addicted to the "old standards" that the new stuff just can't cut it with me. There's just no "history" to them for me, and the history of each hymn is what gives them that special, endearing quality. I guess I'm really gittin' old?

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

When my father died in the hospital, I went to the parking lot, cranked my truck, and the radio was on already. Eric Clapton's verson of "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" came on in its entirety, and it struck me fairly dumb for a moment. It was as if God was sending me a message not to worry about Dad, that he really WAS in a much better place. So that song will always hold a special place of honor in my heart. He always loved that old song, and could play and sing it well. I can still see that big ol' grin of his as he played and sang. He had a bit of the "ham" in him about his music. But never so much as to lose his humility. Country boys can't even spell "pridefulness," much less practice it!
