    44 Spec Cases

I've acquired a bunch of Rem Umc 44 spec balloon head cases. They're the solid balloon heads. Do they have any value or are they obsolete? Thnx, Chris

Most would consider them to be obsolete, but they would be OK for lighter loads. Some early priming compounds (thinking mercuric) acted on cartridge brass to it's detriment, but I think it unlikely thet Remington cases would have been loaded with those old things. Another risk might be age hardening that would result in cracks upon firing. They do offer a bit more powder space for the holy black.

If they were mine, I'd wet tumble them until spotless, then anneal the necks.

And, if you choose to let them go, I'd appreciate the opportunity to dicker with you.
