    416 Rigby

Will soon start to load reduced charge cast boolit loads in my Ruger RSM in 416 Rigby, I see that the large case will present some challenges. Would like to hear others experiences with these large cases- trimming, decapping, mouth flaring, etc. Thanks.

I reload for some safari cartridges, 375 h&h, 458 Lott, and 416 Rigby.

    Trimming is trimming.

Large case capacity vs reduced loads? Try trailboss. Its a very bulky powder made especially for reduced loads.

Case mouth shaving lead? I use some cheap harbor freight pin ounches that have beveled noses between the tip and the hex body. Just find one that slips in to pilot, small tap should be all you need to open up that leading edge of the mouth an extra thou or 2 for that bullet base/gas checked base, yet leave the rest of the neck untouched so it will hold and pilot the projectile for seat/crimp.

If you already don`t have molds for the .416 cal. you should look at Accurate molds website. That is where I got most of my .416 molds for my .416 Taylor.Robert

I like to use pistol caliber flair dies where they are applicable.
I'd think the 41 mag one would work here.

Neither of my Lyman M Die bodies (long and short) work with the Rigby case.

The shoulder is the stopping point for you on that fat case. I guess I am fortunate, I use a 480 Ruger expander for my 470 Nitro Loads, but the 470 has a loooong neck.

dang, well if I needed it and had an old die a hacksaw would be in my future.
I know it works on other cases.
I load my 358 win with a 38 special die set until I need to full length size.
