One of those need advice posts again..

So, I've saved up a bit for one of those laser glock training gun things. Wife doesn't seem to want to use it. So, why get it? Should I invest in a few hundred pounds of lead? Less lead more molds? I haven't been able to reload my AR yet but I got some j words (got a heavy boolit mold from an old member here... Went sideways.. Playing card) just doesn't want to work with my lack of skill on that certain mold.

Or.. Should I just buy a few hundred rounds of 556 and stock it like it's gold?

I don't know how to add a poll from my phone, but..

I have one of the trainers and they are really rough on batteries. Buy lead.

I have rechargeable batteries up the wazoo... But I do like the idea of about a half ton of lead (assuming I can get it for that price) I got a good bit for about what a scrap yard would pay.

Lead and Molds...should we find ourselves in trouble in the future those boolits will become a valuable currency. Of course that means primers/powder/cases too.

Haha thanks guys. I guess this weekend I'll pull cash and check every last tire shop in the area... And there's a lot left out here. I'll probably pick up a new Lee 452 mold for my 1911 and look at a different 22 mold for my Rifle... Hopefully there's a lot of lead left out here at the shops!

Casting accurate .22's is not easy. I have a mold but it will be for dire emergencies. I have accumulated about 10k jacketed bullets over the years and keep a min of 5k on hand

You never lose with lead. Good investment for shooting the other guns you will have.

Or you could save the cash, to have on hand when that deal of a lifetime occurs.

I just think it's ridiculous to pay almost 12 cents for a jacket bullet.. I can almost cast them for a fraction of a cent! I guess I'm a cheapskate..

You could always send me that extra money and not have a problem at all. Just a thought.

A bag of 1000 is cheap compared to the frustration of trying to learn casting and reloading.
The powder will be the costly part. Buy the primers first, then projectiles, then the powder.
With 1000 primers, dont think you will use all 1000. Buy either a second 1000, or a single box of 100.
You will use all 100 bullets. Then as you can afford it, buy a can of powder, it will make a bunch, then another.
Now you will need more bullets

Yep, Bought 6000 and I believe they were less than $.07 each. I am too lazy to cast, size, gas check, lube, and weight sort .22 cast and end up a mediocre load. BTW pretzel, you need to add the cost of the gas check to your fraction of a cent per bullet.
